It gives us pride to announce that Tishk International University (TIU) was awarded the International Institutional Accreditation Certificate by the German accreditation agency ZEvA for a period of six years. The certificate is given after a huge evaluation process which includes site visits and long meetings.
The International Accreditation brings a wide variety of benefits to both students and to institutions by, raising the profile of learning and teaching of the university and demonstrating to students a measurable commitment to the quality of teaching.
“Accredited status” means that students and the public can expect that the University lives up to its promises. It means that a student can have confidence that a degree or credential has value. Accreditation signals that the public can have confidence in the worth of the University.
TIU invested a lot of efforts in this certificate. The journey of the institutional accreditation continued for about 2 years. It started with preparing a detailed self-evaluation report that assesses the TIU’s current situation as well as processes.
Then ZEvA formed a panel composed of German experts who have extensive academic and professional experiences in higher education. The panel conducted a site-visit to TIU Campus to overlook the University’s facilities and to conduct the required meetings. Based on the experts’ evaluation,ZEvA’s commission decided to award institutional accreditation to TIU.
The methods and criteria of evaluation applied by ZEvA are rooted in the common European Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in Higher Education. ZEvA is a founding member of The European Association for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (ENQA) and The European Consortium for Accreditation (ECA).

This year the conference was planned virtual as of the pandemic situation raised during the last months. For that reason, it was planned blended including physical attendance as well as online. More than 400 participants attended online while our staff physically joined in three different rooms dedicated to different sessions of the conference.
The submitted manuscripts came from several countries including India, Romania, Iraq, Indonesia, Thailand, China, USA, Turkey and Malaysia.
This year, the conference has hosted four distinguished keynote speakers, starting with Dr. Hussain Rabia, Managing Director (MD) of Entrac Petroleum from UK. He gave his keynote speech on the topic of “Preparation of Future Petroleum Engineers”, the second keynote speaker was Prof. Dr. Hamed M. Jassim, a professor & specialist in Mining and Tunneling Engineering, whose topic was “Tunneling Practice: Old Haibat Sultan Tunnel in Koya, Kudistan Region-Iraq” and thirdly, a keynote speech was given by Prof. Dr. Merak Salamak, a Professor at the Silesian University of Technology (SUT) in Gliwice, Poland on the topic entitled “BIM methodology as the first step to the digitization of the construction industry”. Lastly, Prof. Dr. Bekir Karlik on the topic of “New developments in myoelectric controlled arm prosthesis”. The audience could join online and on the campus at the same time according to their choice. Organizing committee arranged different session rooms physically and online simultaneously.
The event organization was successful, and the closing ceremony was very enjoyable with the participants from EPU and TIU staff. The ceremony was broadcasted to the participants joining from other universities.
