Harare Institute of Technology Graduate Wins National Engineering Competition in Zimbabwe
Harare Institute of Technology’s graduate, Auxilliah Chiwanga, from the Department of Chemical and Process Systems Engineering was the winner the First Prize at the 2015 National Engineering Students Competition Awards, held at the Harare Institute of Technology. She scooped the Zimbabwe Institution of Engineers’ Shield for the Prize after her project, the “Design of a Plant to Produce Virgin Paper from Bagasse”, was voted the best by a panel of judges from the Zimbabwe Institution of Engineers.
Commenting on the award, the dean of the school of Engineering and Technology at the Harare Institute of Technology, Eng. Perkins Muredzi noted that the Global Engineering Deans Council (GEDC) was earmarking promoting such forums for effective engineering education in Africa and beyond.
