On July 28th The Next MacGyver Finalists Pitch Ideas for a TV Series Starring a Female Engineer
The University of Southern California (USC), whose Dean of Engineering is GEDC Member Yannis Yortsos, have teamed up with the National Academy of Engineering (NAE), the MacGyver Foundation and MacGyver creator Lee Zotloff to bring to fruition the Next MacGyver competition, aimed at attracting young women to engineering.
The Next MacGyver focuses on female engineers as the stars, and is geared at helping to inspire more women to consider engineering as a viable field of study. On July 28th at 6PM Pacific Time (UTC -8:00), twelve finalists will pitch their ideas, which can be watched live here. Five winners will receive $5,000 and an opportunity to be mentored by a producer from Hollywood to develop their script into a series.
