The Lassonde 50:50 Challenge
On March 3rd, 2015, the Lassonde School of Engineering at York University announced an ambitious $1.5 million initiative to become the first university in Canada to have 50:50 gender balance in their engineering program. GEDC Member and dean of the Lassonde School of Engineering, Janusz Kozinski, spearheads the challenge with two prestigious co-chairs: Silicon-valley philanthropist and entrepreneur Sandra Bergeron and renowned journalist Katty Kay.
The funds to make this challenge possible were provided by Pierre Lassonde, who serves not only as the schools namesake, but also the founding donor of the school.
