University of Toronto Engineering Welcomes Record-Breaking Number of Female First-Year Students

With 30.6 percent female enrollment in the University of Toronto's (U of T) engineering program, U of T now boasts the highest percentage of females enrolling in engineering programs throughout Ontario. GEDC Member, Cristina Amon, serves as the Dean of the Faculty of Applied Science & Engineering at U of T. In the article found on U of T’s website, she explains that "diverse perspectives are the foundation of our culture of excellence in research, education, service and innovation".

Overall, over a quarter of U of T's population pursuing a degree in engineering is female, ahead of both Canadian and American averages hovering between 19 and 20 percent.
