On behalf of the Women in Engineering ProActive Network (WEPAN), Rebecca Brent has been awarded the 2024 WEPAN Leader in Engineering Education Award!
WEPAN Awards honor key individuals, programs, and organizations for accomplishments that underscore WEPAN’s mission to advance cultures of inclusion and diversity in engineering education and professions. WEPAN Award honorees demonstrate extraordinary service, significant achievement, model programs, and exemplary work environments.
Dr. Brent is President of Education Designs, Inc., a consulting firm in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. She has more than 35 years of experience in education and specializes in staff development in engineering and the sciences, teacher preparation, and evaluation of educational programs at both precollege and college levels, and she has authored or coauthored roughly 120 papers on those topics. She holds a Certificate in Evaluation Practice from the Evaluators’ Institute at George Washington University. Prior to entering private consulting, she was an Associate Professor of Education at East Carolina University where she won an outstanding teacher award. In 2014, Dr. Brent was named a Fellow of the American Society for Engineering Education.
The Leader in Engineering Education Award will be presented at the 2024 Collaborative Network for Engineering and Computing Diversity (CoNECD) conference during the Award Banquet taking place on Tuesday, February 27, 2024 at 6:30-9:00pm ET at the Marriott Crystal Gateway in Crystal City, VA.
