SPEE’s Engineering Education Development Forum

The Portuguese Society for Engineering Education (SPEE) held its Second Engineering Education Development Forum on 19 October in a hybrid format with both in-person and video conference participation. The event took place at the University of Aveiro and involved both Portuguese and international speakers and participants. The Forum had three objectives:

  • to present the ongoing activity of SPEE’s four working groups
  • to create a space to share and disseminate developments in engineering education
  • to share examples of good practice.

The day began with a roundtable organised by the working group on Ethics in Engineering Education addressing the topic “Teaching Ethics in Engineering Curricula: what format and what impact upon Academic and Scientific Integrity?”.

This was followed by a roundtable on “Diversity Challenges in Engineering” organised by the working group on Research, Gender and Diversity in Engineering Education.

In the afternoon the working group on Mathematics in Engineering Education hosted a session “Mathematics 21st century skills map: a beautiful journey”. This included participation from the eduScrum community in 8 countries.

The final session was organised by the ICT in Engineering Education and focused on the theme “Online tools and applications for Engineering Education”. More information: https://www.spee.org.pt/en/
