A webinar on Engineering Skills for Safety

Engineering

Join us for our first engineering skills for safety webinar on Process safety – Management Systems for Industrial Sites on 27 April 2023 9.30-10.30am BST!

In 1988, 167 people died in the world’s deadliest offshore oil disaster due to inadequate safety management systems on the Piper Alpha rig in the North Sea. In this webinar, Dr Zsuzsanna Gyenes, Senior Process Safety Expert will give an overview of the most applicable frameworks and provide key findings and learnings through the presentation of a case study where many of the elements of the safety management system failed. Her presentation will also provide tips on what a good system, and good implementation, look like.

A panel discussion and Q&A will be led by Tim Slingsby, Director Skills and Education at Lloyd’s Register Foundation.

This is the first of a new quarterly Engineering Skills for Safety webinar series through which we aim to inform and engage our global audience on key engineering skills for safety issues and form the nucleus of a new safety skills community of practice.

Through these webinars we aim to inform and engage our global audience about the importance of engineering skills for safety, promote safer and innovative engineering, and form the nucleus of a new safety skills community of practice.
