Call for Authors for Rising to the Top Volume V!

The International Federation of Engineering Education Societies (IFEES) and the Global Engineering Deans Council (GEDC) cordially invite leading women in STEM from the Middle East, North Africa, and Arab World to contribute to the upcoming fifth volume of the Rising to the Top book series. Rising to the Top is a series of books, pioneered by IFEES & the GEDC, compiling the stories of women engineering leaders across the globe working in male-dominated fields.

About IFEES // The International Federation of Engineering Education Societies connects engineering education societies around the world to leverage the collective strengths of its members and community to improve engineering education worldwide. IFEES’ network works to enhance global engineering education through collaboration between educational, corporate, and other organizations interested in engineering education. Learn more at IFEES.net.

About GEDC // The Global Engineering Deans Council serves as a global network of engineering deans, industry affiliates, former deans, and other leaders in the field, leveraging the collective strengths of its members for the advancement of engineering education and research. GEDC Regular Members include deans, rectors, or principals of engineering colleges and faculties. The GEDC’s goal is to provide a space for leaders of engineering institutions to connect and share the successes and challenges of providing world class engineering education programs in an increasingly interconnected and fast-paced world community. About the Rising to the Top Series // For innovations to continue to evolve, it is necessary to balance gender representation in STEM fields and ensure engineering advancements include all members of society. Rising to the Top provides an intimate and inspiring look into the experiences that have shaped the lives and careers of women engineering leaders from around the world. By openly sharing their personal journeys in these pages, the authors hope to not only inspire the next generation of engineering leaders, but also provide valuable insight into the challenges facing women engineers around the world, and the opportunities that are theirs for the taking.

Rising to the Top makes it clear that women engineering leaders are not only essential for the advancement of all societies—they are here to stay!

Upcoming Books // Rising to the Top Volume V | Female Engineers from the MENA & Arab World Share their Journeys to Professional Success, will span the region for a collection of journeys of women leaders in engineering, industry and academia and allied fields. These inspiring stories will help highlight the need to bring more women to the mainstream professions. The MENA and the Arab World is a diverse region where the influence of culture, sex and traditions shape the people in many ways. This book aims to capture the remarkable spirit, resilience, and hard work of female engineers from these different countries by chronicling the experiences that have influenced their personal and professional lives and made them break all barriers to reach the top.

The Network // Beyond the book series, IFEES GEDC has established a monthly webinar space where our global network of women leaders come together to address various topics and collectively combat the gender disparities in STEM fields all while inspiring the next generation of women engineering leaders. We hope to pave the way for future generations of women to become leading pioneers of STEM.

We were so thrilled with the reception of Rising to the Top Volume III: India and Rising to the Top Volume IV: Africa last year, we decided to create a volume that focuses on highlighting the complex tapestry of cultures that make up the Middle East, North Africa, and the Arab World.

If you are a woman in the engineering field from the MENA region and you have risen to a leadership position, we would be honored if you shared your journey with our global community in Volume V. We greatly appreciate your time and attention to this proposal and look forward to our potential collaboration on this important initiative
