The Symposium of Assessment Best Practices in Engineering Schools organized by Universidad del Norte

The Symposium of Assessment Best Practices in Engineering Schools was organized and held by Universidad del Norte, Colombia. The goal of the Symposium was “To present, discuss and share experiences, successful cases and best practices in the development of the assessment process in Engineering programs”. The event has been held four times, two in-person (2018 and 2019) and two virtual (2020 and 2021), due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Symposium has presentations with international and national speakers, workshops, discussion tables and panels of experts.
The event was aimed at professors and managers from engineering schools in Colombia and Latin America countries. The conference proceedings have been published in 2019 and 2020 in both physical and digital formats. These proceedings included assessment experiences, results, and ongoing projects for programs or schools using national or international accreditation models. There were also teaching and learning experiences presented within the framework of the assessment process.

The Symposium and the publications are sponsored by ACOFI (Colombian Association of Engineering Schools). The event has become a benchmark for discussion and analysis of quality assurance processes in engineering education in Colombia and Latin America.
