Ray Kirby joined RMIT as the Dean of Engineering in March 2023. He joined RMIT from University of Technology Sydney (UTS) where he led a large research institute called Tech Lab. Prior to joining UTS, he was Head of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at Brunel University London.   

Ray Kirby is a Professor of Computational Acoustics, and he has published widely in the area of mathematical modelling of guided waves in fluids and structures. He is an Associate Editor for the Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, as well as a Chartered Engineer and a Fellow of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers in the UK.
