Steve has worked in engineering throughout Australia, Europe, Africa and North America for the past 30 years in plant maintenance, construction of iron ore plants, oil & gas platforms and power stations. A chartered professional engineer (and Fellow of Engineers Australia) in electrical, mechanical and chemical engineering, he believes university engineering programs need to be strongly focused on industry. He has presented numerous industrial automation and industrial data communications programs worldwide to over 18,000 engineers and technicians, and has a particular interest in practical and leading edge aspects of marketing, business and engineering practice.
He has acted as the author or editor of over 30 engineering textbooks sold throughout the world. He feels that all engineering businesses need to think globally and keep experimenting with new innovative approaches. Currently, he is actively involved in research and implementation of remote lab technology as applied to online learning. He serves as dean of engineering for the Engineering Institute of Technology which provides engineering diplomas, bachelor and master degrees to students from over 140 countries.
