Maria João Viamonte is a professor of computer engineering at the Institute of Engineering of Porto (ISEP) and Dean since April 2018. ISEP is one of the leading and the oldest reference-engineering public institutes in Portugal. She also was been Vice-President of scientific council for 9 years. She received her PhD in electrical engineering, 2004 from the University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro, Portugal.
She works in Artificial Intelligence with special interest in multi-agent simulation, agent mediated electronic commerce, semantic web technology and decision support systems.
She holds over 60 international publications, including journals and chapters of books.
She has been involved in several projects involving the development and use of Knowledge-Based systems, Modelling and Simulation, Multi-Agent systems, Emotional Behaviour, Data Mining, Ontology Matching Services and Social Network.
