November 16, 2022

9 AM EST | 14:00 GMT

How can universities demonstrate their societal impact?

Future engineering innovators, experts and leaders must act with the social, economic and environmental implications of what they do in mind. Educators, researchers and employers working together can enable this by embedding ethics, leadership and sustainability skills and mindset into education and research. Industry wants to engage with universities whose graduates will bring these sustainability skills to the workplace. And students are showing a growing interest in attending universities with strong ‘sustainability’ credentials. In this webinar we will explore how universities evaluate and demonstrate their impact, for themselves, and for the stakeholder communities they serve.

Hosted by Monica Holly Collins, Researcher & Lecturer at Institut Mines-Télécom Business School Paris, with speakers:

  • Dr Thokozani Majozi: Dean of Engineering at WITS University, Chair of the South Africa Engineering Deans Forum and GEDC Member
  • Kodzo Korkotsi: Foundation Manager at Shared Interest Foundation
  • Drew MacFarlane: Rankings Manager, QS, Leading the development of the QS World University Rankings : Sustainability

In keeping with the vibrant and highly interactive nature of the GEDC Industry Forum since its inception, comments, questions and interaction with our audience of peers is not just encouraged but expected!

We are grateful to our partners for their support which has enabled this series to take place.
